The Dalai Lama recently celebrated his 80th birthday at the Global Compassion Summit at the UC Irvine.
In the interview he had with Ann Curry, the Dalai Lama talked about the only gift he would wish for his birthday is that people pay more attention to their own emotions and minds, and be compassionate. With self-awareness, we all can eventually bring “peace of mind” back in life.
The word, compassion, has been talked about so much lately in the recent months. The dictionary defines compassion as “sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others”.
Sounds easy, but how?
Truly, meditation could be the simplest avenue that helps us clear our minds and tune into our inner strengths to FEEL, not only for ourselves but also for others.
Curious about meditation? Deepka Chopra will be hosting a global virtual meditation for compassion on 11th July. Don’t miss it!
